Reducing CO2 emissions

100% Green Electricity

All of the electricity consumed at the Ansell Portugal plant is from renewable sources - helping to reduce their greenhouse gas emissions by 900 MTCO2e.

Reduction of Water Withdrawals

Reduction of Water Withdrawals

A reverse osmosis-based water recycling system allows Ansell to process all wastewater, which has resulted in a 55% reduction of water withdrawals.

Biomass

Across Ansell's factories, thermal energy is generated with renewable biomass, using wood chips instead of fossil fuels to create heat.

Solar Power

A portion of the electricity used at Ansell's factories is generated by their advanced and expanding solar power system.

Water Treatment

Ansell's factories leverage reverse osmosis to reuse water, which will enable Ansell to reduce fresh water withdrawals by 40%.

Zero Waste to Landfill

Ansell have certified Zero Waste to Landfill facilities, in line with Intertek's Zero Waste to Landfill framework which looks at above 99% diversion.

Recycled Packaging

All of Ansell's disposable glove packaging is recyclable and made with at least 70% recycled paperboard content.
