How does Poron®️ XRD™ work?
The secret to this smart material is the fast-reacting properties of the urethane molecules. Day-to-day, these molecules are soft and relaxed, allowing the wearer to move around comfortably and with ease. At this point, the urethane is resting above its 'glass transition temperature' (Tg).
If a heavy object was to fall and make sudden impact with the foam, the urethane reacts instantly and hardens. The science behind this reaction is the impact affects the Tg, causing an instant reaction where the molecules momentarily 'freeze'. When this happens, the material firms to form a comfortable protective shell that shields the body from impact better than other protective foams currently available.
